Drew Ink The year

Aero

Also called Windows Aero

Microsoft's translucent blurred window chrome of the Vista and Windows 7 era, and the first mainstream shipping of the effect now called glass.

Aero: a window with a glass frame standing over a desktop of marks, the wallpaper blurred and readable through the border and through the caption, the caption tinted blue and lightening downward with its title drawn over a glow, three caption buttons with the close one red, rounded top corners and square bottom ones, and a soft shadow under the whole window. Inside the frame: a location bar carrying a back control and a greyed-out forward one, a breadcrumb path and a search field; a command bar; a navigation pane with one entry highlighted; eight mark cards of which one is selected; and a details pane along the foot showing that mark's own name, carrier and colours. A second sheet of glass runs along the bottom of the screen as a taskbar over the same desktop.
